Ecthelion listened, nodding, dark hair gleaming in the wash of flames from the fire. ' Where is the glory that was of old? ' he whispered, then seemed to shrug himself from those darker thoughts. He even smiled a private smile, redolent of memory at some of his friends words. ' So the lady would perhaps not mind another... friend, who would treat her with respect, ' he found nothing wrong in sharing, he and Glorfindel went back almost twenty one thousand years, that covered Aman, Beleriand, and Aman again, and now, this Middle earth, which was strange to Ecthelion, it had been unknown lands in his days in Nevrast and Gondolin. He too, bore a proud and ancient name, but the Eldalie , if Middle Earth killed them, were, sooner or later, reborn in Valinor, he and Glorfindel sooner, since both had died fighting Balrogs, almost at the same time, fighting evil, and dying bravely. Which did not make them angels, both were too old, too powerful, too brilliant, to ever be that . He watched his friends face, etched by fire , he wore his beauty and power like a fine, familiar cloak, no need for boasting, for testing, he was Glorfindel, as he himself was Ecthelion, friends, rivals, captains, and hero's both.

'we are too old to se everything as so white and black, right and wrong, only the most extreme of things,' he laughed suddenly, 'I assure you, she is as picky with her friends as you have ever been. Rivendell is a quiet valley now, more than it has ever been, there is little else to do here but to train and make your own excitment, but go ahead, I knew there are few wmen who are resistant to your charms when you fire them, mellon-nin.'

She crossed her legs gracefully feeling the warmth of the fire finally catching up with the cold that had been around her as she traveled. She thought of all the experiences she had enjoyed and so the disadvantages. There was a change in the wind, but far from being taken as it was dangerous to predict. She heard their words and was intrigued, but her mind knew better than to rush into things. She drank more of her glass remembering the soft taste of the elvish wine, feeling it flow on her being revitalizing it.

The golden haired Elf saw that the lady had finsihed her wine and excused himself from his friends company for a moment to get her another glass. 'Try this,' he smiled handing her the glass, 'its from Mirkwood....and the best there is,' he took her hand and kissed her delicate fingers, his golden eyes smiling at her from under ebony dark lashed before he went to sit back with Ecthelion.

Ecthelion hid a smile behind his winecup... so easy, Glorfindel could seduce as easy as breathing... any-one, if half the old tales told were told truly, it would be an eye opener for many. ' I would respect any woman who wears those warrior braids and walks like a panther on the hunt, ' he murmured Should I leave you mellon-nin? One perfect black brow tilted up. She is fresh ground for you, Golden Hair,
' I have heard only good of Elrond Half-Elven, ' he mused, distantly, ' although I do not hear that Glorfindel is his subject, so much as a....guest, a famed High Elf, '

Dont be so impolite, I wouldnt want to depraive the young lady of your company, he flashed a white grin at the Dark elf. 'Not unless you have something else on your mind...perhaps the rooms next to mine arent so empty this evening,[/i] he looked again at the woman. 'Forgive us, my lady,. we are being rude, but it has been many centuries since my friend and I have had the opportunity to tease one and other.'

She saw him stand up and appraoch to her and felt curious at what he may do when suddenly she heard 'Try this' and saw him handing her a glass of elvish wine. She smiled for she had traveled to Mrikwood not long ago. It was good to tast some of it's exelencies, for those woods had good memories in her. She felt his kiss on her hand and her deep eyes turned to meet his before he went to sit back with his friends. As he sat up she looked back at the glass and took a sip knowing perfectly well it's origins. She heard their comments and raised an eye brow saying "It was indeed my knowledge of one making a long trip looking for his long gone friend. Thy words are in to be friendly and if joy is in thy hearts it must be welcomed. Why not live in freedom as we all fly in life." She smiled. and added "You are right, it is a good wine, but I must add my preference to the one at the north of Mirkwood alias Rohvanion". She winked back at him.

'I will remember then, my fair lady, and be sure that next time the wine is from the North, although...even that would not be as sweet as you,' he smiled. 'We have not yet had the pleasure of your name, lady, you seem to be a traveler, from where do you hail and where do you call home, fair one?'

She smiled at his compliments and laughed lightly as her own race graced her with "Thank you my Lord, for I trust them to be as honest as they seem." She placed the glass on the table and answered to his question "Many are my names, but for one to give, sure of rememberance Brünnehilde would be me, one of the remaining elves of Mithlond as they say, but my home has been for some reason hence future itself, these fair lands: Rivendell. I have seen it grow and linger, stay and develop. Who do I have the pleasure to accuaintance?" She said with a gentle smile on her lips.

Ecthelion settled back with the air of one willing to be entertained, although , as with all very old friendships, there was a hint of rivalry, in his emotions, even jealousy, as he looked at the spilling glory of Glorfindels hair. many people had fair hair, he had only ever seen a few with pure molten gold locks, like his friend. Although the lady was clearly charmed, - who was not? - by Glorfindel, out of inate politeness he said: ' Well met, lady, and I am Ecthelion, ' then he sat back again, smiling, as he observed.

'I am Glorfindel, and this happy chap is Ecthelion, recently of Aman.' He sat back in the chair, feeling the warmth of the fire. He came to Rivendell in search of me, and i with luck, reacently happened to return here, to check the valley was still in one piece and holding up to the glory of days of old, but sadly, most of it is gone now.' He looked at his friend and could read him like a book. 'So, lady.....which of us do you think is the better looking?' he laughe, ducking a swart from his dark haired friend, who if he had really been trying, could have knocked his head form his shoulders. 'I jest!' he laughed, 'Forgive me, Lady Brünnehilde, my friend and i are....old rivals.'

Ecthelion threw back his head and laughed, ' Old many things, ' he said, ' and yes, rivals is one of them, he dyes his hair you know, ' he said, straight faced, and lying, since the one thing Glorfindel never needed to do was highlight his beauty.

She nodded her head to Ecthelion and said "I am more than pleased to meet one of Aman, even if it seems, not all have forgoten those times and kins." She laughed with Glorfindel's comments and thought wise not to answer but surely silence could be taken aback, for politness was shown to her like one of many important rules for an elf. She moved a golden lock of hair from her face as she moved her hoof away and her long golden hair felt on her back and shoulders. "Intresting it is to find two old friends among rival spirits. It has all changed indeed, but not slowly, it used to be beautiful, much more that explaining it would be a crime for no words can I find to, many times fast changes can misslead us all, and so these changes can tear appart real beauty."

'I do not dye my hair,' she glared at his friend, 'nor do I spent hours pouring oils over it and brushing it, as you do when you think no one is looking.'

Itarelde was listening to this all the while and couldn't hide a snicker over what Glorfindel had just said. She noticed she had maybe been too loud and turned away quickly to face the wall.
