I began this poem a long time ago and finished it the day my gf and I broke up.
Winter in My Heart
A harsh, frost-bitten breeze Howls through the snow-laden trees The sky sheds no tears of light The earth is cloaked in cloudy night
Only famine and death prevail through this time Nothing can break it from it's bind. The winter, like a disease, plagues my heart. It's icyness is slowly breaking it apart.
Where is the spring to drive away the cold? Where is the sun to paint the sky gold? Why can I not feel the warmth they are trying to give? Why is it that sometimes I feel like I cannot live?
My tears freeze before they softly kiss the ground. I suffer alone; no one else is around. Nothing green grows No love flows.
I am numb as the barren fields The joy that comes from me does not seem real. How I wish the sun would rise to melt the ice; And banish the winter that clings to my soul like a vice.
