She looked back at him and heard his words as the wind blew strong and she felt the waterfall's mist. She knew he was a man who know how to do many things but still many mysteries can never be fully unfolded not even if you think you know that person completely. "I never knew a man could handle so many things."

'Im not sure such a man really exists,' Ryoko looked up at the tall elf, not needing to shield her elven eyes from the sun, which shon on them. 'My lord... I am wary of men who seem..too good to be true, you have a lot to live up to, now.'

' Oh, I can command armies too, ' he said, then winked, ' surely because a man can do thoswe things he's not too good to be true? Any mortal can do those things, let alone a Noldor ... very old Noldor, in fact, Glorfindel can do all those things, any ranger of the Dunedain also, from what I have heard '

She looked at Ryoko and then back at Ecthelion. She leaned agaisnt a tree and knew there was truth in that both said, but nevertheless... It is also good for a man not to only concentrate in battles. She looked at the waterfall, it always seemed to make a suggestion to the whole plot.

Ecthelion bowed to them both, and passed through the trees, he found a quiet spot, where the sun fell warmly, in this hidden valley, and shrugged off his cloak, then drew the sword which was scabbarded and hung from his waist. This was not, of course, the sword he had worn in the Elder Days, that lay broken somewhere under Belegaers waves, in the ruins of Gondolin, but he had fashioned it to be an exact copy. And yet, he had not named it, as yet, not until he fought his first battle with it. It glittered like ice, it's pommel set with sapphires surrounding one great diamond, as he flowed into the training moves which were learned so long ago, he seemed to float. Although so tall, and broad of shoulder, he was light as all Eladlie, and there was a deadly and debilitating grace about his movements, it was a dance, almost. He hung his shirt aside, and the strong, defined muscles of his back and arms moved under his skin as he continued, his face showing no exertion, only a calm concentration. In Gondolin, there had been many Noble Houses, and all used different weapons. All Eldar of course could use a sword, and a bow, in Gondolin some Houses had fought with axes, a weapon almost all in these days associated entirely with the Naugrim, the dwarves, some with spears. Ecthelion could fight with any of these weapons, and also knives, for closer combat, but he felt no need to boast of it or walk around clanking with weapons, he could kill bare handed, he had commanded armies, it had taken the Chief of the Balrogs to kill him, and he , in his dying had slain that demon. Of course he could die, he had before, but not easily, and he did not fear death, he had been through it, and a bad one, burning, as his friend Glorfindel had. He hardly perspired, the pale golden skin like silk over superb muscles and bones, always in perfect balance, as he trained, and only when the sun was at the zenith, did he pause to drink from a freshet that sprung from the little cliff, bounding the small space where he practiced.

Brünnehilde saw him leave to practice as his shadow moved behind him disapearing to the green grass of april moving along the wind. As she looked back at the waterfall she felt the challenge, she could not watch it any longer... She had to go there, challenge the waves, ah yes! challenge them, but her way, unlike those that have, she knew there was a way to find, she would go there and feel the mist right in front of her challenging her balance and blade skill. She smiled at Ryoko and stood up slowly. Her long hair waving as she walked forth and soon stood on the rocks in front of the mighty waterfall. She ooked at the ferocious waves and was amazed, he had seen nothing like it. She began to doubt, as always, she leaned forth about to fall but then remembered the words of Ecthelion 'why not have more confidence in yourself?' She shook her head and held her balance, he was right, she neeed to focus more. She drew her long elvish sword and began to swing it forth, feeling the mist of the falls. She began to feel part of the water fall and began to leap forward and back, swing aiming at the air as her sword crashed against the air, that was the trick, not challenging the strenght of the waterfall, but being part of it. After being for a time there, practicing, she got in touch with taht trust she had lacked of for a long time. She smiled and seathled her sword and stood there, still, feeling the wind play with her golden hair, looking forth, feeling nature as a part of her, even if it was for a short period of time, she knew, she had won today, not only found a key to being a better person, you always learn something new. She sighted at the view and glanced with her crystal eyes as everything moved with time.

The tip of a sword touched the back of her neck, and Ecthelion said, ' Very good, but never loose your concentration, ' his smile flashed as his sheathed his sword, the waterfalls numinous mist beading on his bare chest and arms. ' there could always be some-one behind you, hiril nin '

She felt the blade and gasped weakly as her left hand drew quickly a dagger and turned to see who it was with the speed she possesed which developed with her as she grew older and then her eyes which were the ones of a lynx fixed upon her oponent slwoly softened as she lowered her dagger listening to his words and said "Doila lle." She then seathled her dagger saying as she smiled looking up at him "It depends on 'who' I have behind me."

' You should always assume it is an enemy, lady, ' he smiled, ' but I apologise, I did not mean to alarm you, it is an old habit, I have trained many, many warriors, '

She smiled brightly "I will take such advice seriously Lord Ecthelion." She then added "There is nothing to appologise of, I should indeed always stay on guard, who knows what could happen. I got lost in the beauty of the horizon."

' One can easily do that here, ' he said, ' it is a very beautiful place, no wonder my friend has lived here so long, it breathes the magic of the Elder Days more than any place I have yet seen '

"Indeed, Rivendell is a place of magic, wisdom and beauty, mostly hidden in places such that when you find them you feel it's preserved beauty and charm. These woods have remained with the grace of the past and the mysteries of old."

' Yes, ' he said, ' one of the few, ' he examined her sword, ' that is a good blade, was it made for you? '

She smiled and drew her sword with great ease and swang it and turned it to hand it to him by the hilt with great hability as she remembered the days when she had been taught. "Indeed it was, Lord Elrond himself made sure of that. I must be thankful for somethings, and this is one of them. I could never have a better and more detailed sword than this one made in Rivendell."
