First of all, there will be no more wizards on this board, other than Seymor the Summoner, Saruman the White, Gandalf the White, Gandalf the Grey, the two blue wizards, Brom the Traveler, Edyen the Seductive, and Radgast the Brown.
Also wizards are not capable of doing anything that is not seen or read in Lord of the Rings, such as, ice balls, giant smoke screens, waves of water, and shields.
Wizards that are not mentioned in the books or the movies are very very very very far less powerful than the wizards mentioned in the books or movies.
There will be no teleporting!
All wizards afore mentioned in this post must go through "How to Post as a Wizard 101" please contact Aryndel.

Questions. 1. What exactly makes someone a wizard? Is it calling themselves a wizard or using magic? 2. No more wizards? Why is that? 3. Why are wizards no be to be doing what is seen in LOTR? In that case all they could do is barely nothing. 4. Why are ones mentioned in the book stronger then ones made up automatically? 5. Teleporting is often used by non-wizards as well. Does this apply to them as well 6. What is with all the rules on trying to limit peoples characters and fun?

i can answer all those 1. you must actually say your a wizard in your profile, and you must be able to use magic 2. we have enough as it is, there may be more IF its like gandalf the white, or the blue wizards, but other than that, no more 3. they ARE being able to do what is seen, you missunderstood, but in lotr they cant really do ANYTHING but like push people with their staffs, and talk to creatures, and see the future 4. because think about it..that would be really stupid to have unofficial characters be stronger than official ones 5. teleporting is, yes, used by other people, weve decided that its just no more teleporting 6. because it gets to hard to understand if you dont lay down the law

1.So If I use magic and i dont say i'm a wizard then i'm not a wizard? I dont think that exactly fits. By that definition, Seymor wouldnt be a wizard since his a summoner. They are different things. 2. We have enough people who use swords? How about we limit them? 3. Exactly. Virtually all they could do is push people and shoot fireballs. Wow. Thats great. 4.Why is that? Does that your character automatically stronger then mine because yours is in the books? As long as the character has a good backstory, i dont see any reason why they shouldnt be allowed to be equally as poweful. 5. Fair enough. 6. What was hard to understand before?

Radagast was never that powerful honestly. And if I remember his powers weren't even made for fighting. So why should he be stronger than a wizard who's skills are used for nothing but fighting?

((First of all thanks for numbering your thoughts. hee hee))
1. Anyone who uses magic has to take the "How to be a wizard training" The training isn't just for wizards its so that anyone who uses magic doesn't godmod when using their special talents.
2. There are many wizards but maybe if a new member wanted to become a wizard that rule "might" be relzaxed....maybe.
3. This is a lord of the rings board so we should stick to the books. However I do find this rule to restrict personality.
4. I don't know about this one either however I'm guessing its because the ones that are mentioned in the books have their powers all laid out so we know what to expect from them.
5. I'm thinking that no one can teleport....if they teleport then they are using magic and then they also have to take the training.
6. We have to make sure that it is fun for the other rpgers. If we have a bunch of wizards running around godmodding then it will become no fun for other people.

Galadriel. That was a terrible rebuttal. Try harder Thraden. Exactly, I agree with you there. Kaida. ...Not gonna respond to em all coz some of em dont need responding ~2. Banning magic users will stop a fair amount of new members joining the site, usually about 20-30% are magic users on other forums. ~3. Well if we stick to the books then there shouldnt even be a Gandalf the Grey nor a Saruman the White and there would be several other different things about.... ~6. Yeah but wizards godmodding wasnt a huge problem before (though there is alot of it around this site). Anyways, doesnt having wizards at different levels of strength just encourage godmodding as it makes the higher ones unstoppable to the lower ones.

Thats why we are asking them to go through the training. Because we know that wizards in general are more powerful than humans, elves, and dwarves. Eomer and I don't want what happened on another board. There were a couple of wizards and then they told their friends and their friends became wizards and since the admin of that board knew wizards were more powerful he didn't stop them so they were godmodding all over the place I mean even Galadriel(on that board) had a hard time defeating them. So we just want to set some guide lines for them. So that it will be fair and fun for all.

Thats the thing though. Wizards do NOT have to be more powerful then non-wizards. Most of the time a magic user will have some short coming, whether it be the traditional weakness in combat, the quick exhaustion of their powers or a reliance on a staff or something of a sort for their power. Most RPG's keep a general thumb that everyone is equal, excluding circumstances here and there, and that one's character should always stand a chance against another persons. Limiting the number of wizards and making certain wizards stronger then others does not accomplish this at all. If someone is playing as not having any weakness nor giving there fellow posters any chance against them, it is godmodding. I've been to sites as well where godmodding destroyed the place, although it had nothing to do with magic users there...just bastards. It's always the damn bastards

Well right the wizards are fighting each other and making up things that no human or elf could come against. So it makes it unfair. We want them to understand that they do have weaknesses and can not be invincable. Thats why I'm asking them to go through the training so I can figure out where they are coming from and they understand what we are trying to accomplish with this RPG. Because we do'nt want anyone to be unbeatable. Even though Saruman is the most powerful of the wizards doesn't mean he doesn't have a weakness.

And also, we dion't know what the wizards were capable in Lord of the Rings. We're just basing it on what they did use. That doesn't mean they don't have other powers different from what they showed

Yes, that is right. I don't mind the other wizards having different powers than what is shown just if they use them with care so that it is fun and fair for all.
